McCall's 6069 Vacation Dress

Another easy knit dress which I have dubbed the vacation dress because while I like it I don't think I have the balls to wear this anywhere other than at a holiday resort. It is very low cut at the back and combined with the giraffe/zebra hybrid print I think it might be a bit much for popping down the shops!

Gorgeous Things Ann made this recently as a pool cover up and for that the pattern is perfect. EricaB also made a stunning version of this that doesn't look too low cut, but I guess I am a shorty by comparison and should have adjusted the pattern.

McCall's calls this an easy, 1 hour pattern and it is certainly easy and probably can be made in an hour, just not by me - slow sewer extraordinaire. I really like the front cowl drape, but if I make this again I will raise the back so I don't feel quite so bare. That said I'm going to slap the pictures of me wearing it on the internet......

Sorry the pictures are a bit dark, we are having typical Hong Kong summer weather at the moment - vile!

Mmm it might be your comfort level, but I didn't look at that and see a particularly low back. I think it's ok for everyday.

I have just ordered this dress pattern so I am glad to see your review. It is low at the back, but I am assuming you can still wear a regular bra with it? I loved my brief visit to HK and hope I can come back some day - vile weather or not!

Love your dress - wear it and enjoy it!

Love the style and fabric choice. Ditto everyone else, it doesn't look too low from here. You're suppose to show extra skin in summer, right?

I think you and this dress look fabulous together. It would be very comfortable to wear in NYC right now, as it's steamy here.

That is sooooo cute! I don't think it's too low in the back, but having said that I know I would not be comfortable wearing it at my office. It will be a great dress for running errands - think how stylish you'll look while retaining comfort!

I can just about feel that weather! Yuk. It is raining here too but it is quite cool - about 15. Nice and fresh:). Now to that dress - perfect for a night out I'd say. Love it. It is really sexy but not too young. Perfect :))

Oh that is daring in the back! The print is very fun. Pics of Hong Kong--oh I miss it there!

I must have a dress like this in my summer wardrobe. Love the b&w print and the lowered cowl back, sexy without revealing too much.

Love that dress. The print gives it just that extra spice and the back doesn't seem too low at all. I hope you'll get comfortable in wearing it everywhere, because you look fabulous in it!

Like everyone else, I think this dress is a real winner. And that weather! That is some good staying-inside-to-sew weather.

I agree with everyone else - that is a wear it everywhere kind of dress. Definitely not too low.
