Normal Service Can Resume

Well that last month did not go as planned.

I had a two week trip to Turkey booked and as usual planned to make some new clothes to take and get some more exotic photo backdrops than my front door.  I went on a shopping spree and got as far as picking out patterns, I even cut out a few things.

Then one of my 2 cats who has been treated for cancer for the last year, rapidly deteriorated and we had to have her put to sleep.  Even though she was quite old and with her illness we knew it was coming, it still hit me hard and I just had no motivation to sew.  It was undoubtedly the right thing to do, but I still miss the crazy old thing.

On to cheerier stuff, despite my old wardrobe and cat blues we had a wonderful time in Turkey, visiting Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus and finishing with a relaxing few days on the coast.

On to cheery sewing stuff, I have a bunch of things lined up and ready to go, some plans may change, but it's still hot and summery here so hopefully I can still get some use out of the stuff I have traced or cut before fall arrives.  More coming soon!

  1. Awwww, I'm so sorry about your kitty. They are so much a part of the family and I know you must miss her terribly.

Your trip looks like it was wonderful, great photos. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to seeing what you sew next. :-)

  2. So sorry to hear about your cat. Sometimes the longer they are with us, the harder it is to have them go. We had a bunny who lived to be over 12 years old, and when he got sick and had to be put down it was like there was a hole in the family. I still miss the grumpy little bugger, and he hasn't been with us for quite a few years now. I hope you will feel better soon, but sadness is understandable.

Your trip looks awesome though! The photos are fantastic, it it looks like you had a great time.

Good luck with your upcoming projects!

  5. Yes I'm a catty lady as well. It breaks my husband's heart when anything happens to them and they leave you. It does upset me as well, although my philosophy is that it leaves room for a new kitty to come into your life and lighten it.

Glad you had a holiday to compose your thoughts.

  10. So sorry you lost this cat that you loved. I think cats have more connection with humans than people sometimes allow. And thank you for the photos of your trip--I just love when sewing bloggers make records of their travels.
